Neeraj chopra started his support career at the age of 16. In the year 2020 Neeraj Chopra participated in the Tokyo Olympics. He became the first and only track and field athlete from India to win a gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2023. In 2023, he made India proud again, this time at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, becoming India’s very first world champion in any athletics event.
Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal in Tokyo was India’s second individual Olympic gold ever. The first was won by shooter Abhinav Bindra in the 10m air rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Neera Chopra Life Story
Neeraj Chopra was teased by locals for his obesity. His journey started when his dad got him into a gym to tackle his obesity. At Panipat Stadium, he found a liking for javelin throwing. Akshay Choudhary, his first coach, saw his potential at the Panipat Sports Authority of India (SAI) center. Neeraj won his first medal and persuaded his family to support his growth in Panipat; after that, he never saw it back. After a year with Choudhary, he trained at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex with Naseem Ahmad, focusing on long-distance running and javelin throwing. Neeraj, along with Parminder Singh, studied Czech champ Jan Zelezny’s style. His progress was rapid, achieving a national record throw of 68.40 meters in the 2012 National Junior Athletics Championships.
